Tips for driving in New Zealand

Driving in a new country can be daunting but being prepared and studying some of the basics can be a great first step in ensuring safety and a hassle-free trip. Thanks to drive safe New Zealand we can provide you with some of the top tips for travellers driving in New Zealand.

Take the Test!

At Elements Rentals, we want our customers to feel safe when driving around NZ. We encourage all our customers to take the AA Visiting Driver Training Programme test to be adequately prepared for driving in NZ and also understand what is different driving here.

We want your journey to be the best

Please plan your trip accordingly to ensure that you are well rested before taking your journey around NZ. If your flight lands the same day as your pick up date, we highly recommend that you are well rested and adjusted to the time change before hitting the road.

Drive to the rules and be wary of your surroundings when on the road. New Zealand road conditions can vary greatly in one day due to weather conditions. In addition, roads are known to be narrow, windy, and have loose gravels. It is also not unusual to see sheep or cattle on the road.
